...but it was close enough.
end of May saw the end of singlehood for FaeO and her partner Id.
i was more than happy for her and her big day, which was planned and executed within six months, or
less.
their solemnization ceremony was held on a Monday evening, at her parent's house. my bridesmaid duty started on that day; although i was just being around and not really doing much i think. i arrived tad early and we just chatted.
FaeO is one of the most relek brides i've seen; chilling in her bath robe and still texting couple hours before the ceremony.
her bridal room decor is by
Anggun Bridal, who lent her their couple seat for the night as part of the dais.
the main dais in the living room was self-decored by FaeO's elder sister, Euni. i heard she stayed up to 3am the night before to finish the flower stands.
Anggun Bridal also made the bunga telur for the ceremony, with real brooches!
at the end of the solemnization, all the makciks were rushing for one bunga telur each, obviously for the brooches, not for the eggs. hahah.
FaeO chose
Fatimah Mohsin The Wedding Gallery as her official MUA for both solemnization and dinner receptions. I say
for her official MUA because she also engaged Anggun Bridal to be her mom's and sister's MUA for the reception. first time nohhh nampak FM close-up. hahahh.
abz met his friend during the ceremony, who was one of
StudioDua's videographers for the solemnization night. this dude seems to have friends everywhereee we go, there's always someone whom he knows. femes sangat ke? ishhh.
i hadn't met the dudes from StudioDua everrr; that night felt like we've met a few times before. i guess in the photog+videog working line, you just have to be a little friendly to even people you meet for the first time.
that night, i was just delighted to see my closest bestest and humblest friend of... what, ten years? getting
chained hitched to her love. for a moment there's nothing i want for her but truly happiness.
fast forward to the weekend, where the bridesmaids' duties
really start.
FaeO booked a room in Marina Bay Sands for us bridesmaids and the AVIT guy who is none other than abz of course. hahahh. the stay was complete with valet parking and complimentary tix to Gardens By The Bay where the dinner reception was held. due to a delay in getting the MBS room, the hotel management upgraded us to a club suite somewhere in Tower Two.
"for you guys to chill", said the bride.
chill lah sangat.
you can never go wrong at MBS with the amazing view from the 50th floor.
and a hugeee-ass room for all of us. the suite had a living area, the bedroom corner and a two-persons-can-fit bathtub. in fact i think more than two people can fit in that bathtub sia.
for simply being a bridesmaid, i feel pampered. hahahh.
the bridesmaids' duties started at about 5ish.
two bridesmaids (BMs) were already at the Flower Field Hall (FFH) overlooking the catering, abz and i rushed from MBS to GBTBFD to setup the AV stuffs and fine-tune the edges while the balance three BMs were to arrive later to setup the reception tables and usher the guests in.
abz and i were going around in slippers and berms from the hotel to the Dome and around the hall, as if its a walk in the neighborhood park. i can't be running around in the dress and heels! abz and i had wanted to go back to the hotel to change but it was definitely a different situation when we arrived at FFH. we had to ask the other BMs to bring our bags and attires for us to change in the Magnolia Room with the newlyweds.
there were definitely hiccups, which we all managed to solve by the time the newlyweds made their royal entrance. phewwww~!
how blown away was i when i entered the Flower Field Hall?
like this:
the lights, the color, the table settings. fairytale wedding was an understatement.
even i felt like a princess while brisking down the aisle. hahahah.
i didn't take plenty pictures because i was running around either looking for stuffs or people, getting people around, calling up people etc. so there were no proper unofficial pictures coverage done by me.
Euni texted me earlier that day asking if i were anywhere near a florist because she wanted to get bouquets for the BMs. i was still at home then, trying to iron my dress! i had to disappoint her in that bit.
but when she arrived at the venue, she had seven bouquets all ready for us!
such a lovely Maid Of Honour, she is.
being FaeO's bridesmaids are definitely different from any other bridesmaids that I've seen. we didn't even get to slack; some of us were ushering and others were coordinating the event. it was real work
work. we didn't have time to spare to have photoshoots, whatsmore selfies etc. basically just no time to sibuk-menyebuk.
in fact, we were the last ones to take proper photos with the newly weds.
by the time we managed to have a proper picture with the newlyweds, two of the BMs had gone home due to family commitments.
nevertheless, we squeezed a full force shot, thanks to the Photo Booth set up by
Hello Forever! very nice, very professional, very friendly people. Hello Forever prints free copies for each of us and gave one set to the couple. i don't remember how many shots we had; we just simply 1, 2 Pose! 1, 2 Pose!
her wedding favors were freshly bakes hazelnut cookies packed in customized labelled boxes. the cookies... damnnn delicious!
abz and i retreated first after the event, to rest and change since we were not staying for the night at MBS. by the time we got the room, we were deadbeat. our pizza from earlier was so tempting yet so distant to even eat.
even at the hotel, there were after-event hiccups. while abz and i were going around MBS, the balance BMs went around Flower Hall - all of us were looking for the missing pieces. hahah. thankfully it was settled shortly after.
the other BMs came after and we chatted for a bit before calling off the
night morning. it was 3 in the morning the next day by the time we all returned to MBS.
the whole event was a learning journey.
thanks to FaeO, i made new friends, learnt more things about her and the people around, learnt how one person's wedding need not the same like another's, had to think quickly at certain hiccups etc.
it was no doubt memorable although tiring.
having married an Indian Muslim, FaeO have even flown to (and came back from) Mother India for the reception at the guy's side. say
whereeee?
thankfully, "seksa aku dah habis".
hehehh.
