and then we were freeee from le parents for the last few days in Doha! nyehehhh.
if i recalled, it was a Thursday? on our Day 6 or 7 in Doha? yeah i lost track of time.

so anyway we went for brunch at Beijing House while the nieces went for a playdate (kecik kecik ada playdate. my time last time, we played at playground only.) and my BIL went for work. the Chinese cuisine was halal, and oh-so-fulfilling! the meal kinda brought me back to HK. its definitely not the same, but similar.

kung pao chicken and stir fried beef, yo!

later in the day, after fetching the nieces and BIL, we headed to Villagio - a shopping mall which is an almost exact replica of Marina Bay Sands.

an almost exact replica because the mall also have the gondola ride along the canal of the shops. except that Villagio is definitely bigger - in Sg terms, imagine Vivocity with the gondola ride. yeap, that would be really similar.

nahhh, we didnt take the gondola ride.

we also had Snog's frozen yoghurt and it was ahhhhmazzzinggg! i could see why the kids were fighting over them.

so smooth, so creamy, so yummehhh!

dinner was at TGIFridays - the bestest steak dinner for the entire trip!

it was mouth-wateringgg! basically it topped all the previous steak dinners we had.
however lighting in the restaurant wasnt so good, so the pics didnt come out as i wanted it. howells.

steak, steak...

and more steak!
sadly, it was our last dinner in Doha as we were scheduled to fly back to Sg the next day before night. thank God for the scrumptious not-disappointing dinner!

the next day, i remember its Friday (!) because after sending my two nieces for another playdate (how many playdates do these kids have!), we went back to Villagio for breakfast but ended up having brunch, and there was a period where all shops were closed for a couple of hours for Friday prayers.

lunch was with Hardee's, while watching a hockey match! susah datang wei experience macam gini.

for the fun record, abz and i actually bought Maggi's Chilli sauce because we realised that people there don't eat food with chilli! their kind of chilli sauce is Tabasco sauce and tomato ketchup. oh the horror! we were kinda desperate so we wound up at Carrefour to get just one bottle. we even brought home that bottle okay.

as i had mentioned, all shops were closed for Friday prayers, so sister and i chilled at Paul Cafe while waiting for everyone. for a moment we felt like so atas lorrrr. hahaha.

them pretty lovely cakes! we were spoilt for choices!

truthfully, the cakes were pretty affordable. the three plates of delectable desserts cost us about QR80, which is about SGD32.00? portions were huge too! ohhh our faces when we dipped our forks into the cakes and then into our mouths!

we had our early dinner at IHOP at Gulf Mall, because i wanted to go so badlyyy.

more steak menu, but this time we opted for a more relaxed dinner because we knew we will be having dinner again on the flight.

omelette platter, pasta, chicken waffles, mac-and-cheese, and of cos, pancakes!

that night, we had a teary yet thankful goodbye with everyone.
my little brother was on an earlier night flight while abz and i took a Saturday 0200am flight back to Sg.

Hamad International Airport was nothing short of awesomeness.
Qatar Airways took such great care of us, i am so so thankful to have an experience flying with it.

we still have travel kit pouches and PJs to wear in-flight for our return flight!

again, they just kept feeding and we just kept eating!

shopping wise, abz and i only shopped at Mothercare and Columbia. i got myself a Starbucks tumbler because i didnt have anything i want for myself, or that i know of.
for souvenirs, we went to their supermarkets because everything was there! amongst the stuffs we bought were chocolates, really a lot of Moroccan mint tea and baklava treats.

another trip? yes please, when we are pretty much settled down with the many ongoing stuffs here.

in summary, Doha is 'too many halal makan places, too little time'.

this part is rather relaxing for us, cos our parents were scheduled to fly home that night. or was it wee morning? anyway, we only headed out some time after lunch for a stroll in the park, last min shopping for le parents and a steak dinner again.

the boat ride that costs QR10 per pax, took us for a round trip around the cityscape which isn't much really, but still gorgeous.

seriously sunsets are always stunning, isn't it?

we took a break at one of their grand mosques for evening prayers, and again, the mosque was just so beautiful!

i had never been on a pilgrimage trip but if this could come close to the magnificent mosques there, i'd just so grateful for even this.

such breathtaking interior, gorgeous architecture, darn pretty marble floors - i could roll and roll forever there.

steak dinner was at Bennigan's - a music themed restaurant with an indoor playground.

i cant recall exactly what we had, i just couldnt bother to note it down, but below were the gist of it.
i only remembered there's steak, potato soup... and more steaks.

and so that day ended with another fulfilling dinner and sending le parents off for their flight back to sg.
